Journey Traveled – Honoring the Sanctity of Life – Post 33 2025

I wish to share the story of the difficult journey traveled by my son and daughter-in-law. This emotionally trying experience does have a wonderful ending. Praise and thank you Jesus. Celebrate with me the birth of my youngest granddaughter who was born on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at about 3:45 p.m. weighing in at 6 pounds 4 ounces, the smallest birth weight of all of my grandchildren. I have been richly blessed with two granddaughters and three grandsons.

The Journey Traveled – My Christian son and Christian daughter-in-law traveled a very emotional and difficult journey. They did have one son, Wanting to add another child to the family, my daughter-in-law became pregnant. When she was 4 months along, she was informed that their baby had died in her womb. My son and daughter-in-law chose to go through with a regular delivery and arrangements were made for this to take place in three days, after the weekend. Many hours of labor and many tears were shed during the delivery of this precious little one on August 21, 2007.

When my son called and told me what had happened and how they were going to proceed, I felt disbelief and was deeply saddened. But, at the same time I was so proud of the two of them in their decision of love for their child, love for God and their great respect for the sanctity of life. The baby was a girl. She left for us her tiny footprints.

Batteries of tests were done on the baby, my daughter-in-law and son, and no reason was found for what had happened.

A few months later, my son and daughter-in-law decided to try again. She became pregnant and at four months along, they were informed that the baby had died in her womb. The same thing a second time. They chose again to deliver the baby. This little one was a boy. All tests found no reason for such a thing to happen.

In an arboretum in Maple Grove, Minnesota, there were placed two bricks in a memorial garden with the names Grady and Everett on them. They were placed in memory of two precious grandchildren I never got to hug or have the privilege of sharing love with them and watching them grow.

These kinds of things we will never be able to fully understand or explain, but my son and daughter-in-law remained strong in the Lord and Jesus carried them through this journey.

The doctor thought maybe the problem was with my daughter-in-law’s blood clotting, cutting off the flow into the umbilical cord, so they tried the use of blood thinners with a third pregnancy. At about 3 months pregnant, my daughter-in-law had a miscarriage. This time, the tests showed the baby had an extra chromosome and would have been born with Down syndrome.

Finally, we come to the good news story. Through much prayer and determination, my daughter-in-law became pregnant again. My prayers included speaking life over this forming baby and a healthy function of my daughter-in-law’s body. She was carefully monitored throughout the pregnancy with a number of tests and scans being done. She received blood-thinning shots throughout. She made it past the four-month mark. The decision was made to deliver the baby early because of the plan to increase the amount of blood thinning in the ninth month, which could bring about some complications. Arrangements were made to induce labor on Saturday, February 27, three weeks ahead of the due date. The labor seemed to progress slowly, but once things got going, the baby came fast. My daughter-in-law pushed two times and my new precious little granddaughter, initials JJ, was born.

She looked so thin and tiny, at least in comparison to my last grandchild born who weighed 10 pounds. This little one had some problems for example: low body temperature, blood sugar levels, spitting up liquids given to her. The decision was made to put her under observation for 48 hours. They took blood for testing and this blood became contaminated because the area from where the blood was drawn was not cleaned properly. Anyway, they had to redo the blood work for testing and they reset the clock for the amount of time under observation. JJ was finally released and got to go home in the arms of her parents on, Wednesday, March 3, at about 1 p.m.

Praise You Lord Jesus. This is a story of love for God and love and respect for the gift of life. God told man and wife to be fruitful and multiply. Life is a gift from God. Life begins at the time of conception!! Thank You Jesus for this most precious gift of life: a baby given to us to love and care for!

This beautiful, precious, healthy granddaughter, JJ turned 15 years old on Saturday, February 27th, 2025.

God IS Love!!
