Land Creatures – Beasts, Cattle & Creeping Things-Day 6 – Lesson 17 2024

24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:24-25 (KJV)

Through Moses, God provided a very straightforward account of the Creation Week. We are told what God did each day. On Day 6, He

created land animals. Dividing into three categories, we find all of them, both the domestic animals indicated by the word “cattle” and the more wild animals indicated by the term “beasts of the earth” and then everything that walks lowly on the ground or crawls, insects, reptiles, amphibians, rats, and squirrels, et cetera. On Day 5, God created all the birds in the air and all the living creatures in the sea. God will complete His creation on Day 6 with the creation of man.
According to Genesis 1,
God made each type of creature “after their kind’ (KJV) “according to its kind” (NKJV).
Within their DNA, God placed the potential for tremendous variety. Every species belongs to its original kind — cats are still cats, and dogs are dogs.
Animals were created to be vegetarians. This means they only ate plants. There was no death in God’s original creation. There was no killing, nor was there any predatory instinct. So, they only ate the delicious fruits, vegetables, and plants that God had made on Day Three.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food). 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. Genesis 1:29-30
The next several lessons will be devoted to discussion of the creation of man and woman.
