Creation Lesson 1, Introduction
Book of Genesis is Foundational to Entire Bible
As we walk through the first 11 chapters of Genesis:
Block 1- we learn that the first verse of Genesis is foundational to the first chapter of Genesis
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
Block 2- And, the first chapter of Genesis is foundational to the first eleven chapters,
Block 3- and the first eleven chapters of Genesis are foundational to the rest of Genesis,
Block 4- and Genesis is foundational to ALL of the rest of the Bible
Genesis 1-11 is foundational to ALL Christian doctrine and the Christian worldview.
Imagine suddenly pulling the bottom block, Genesis 1:1, out from the other foundational blocks. The whole structure would collapse. If the foundational verse of the Bible is not true, the rest of the Bible would not be true either.
God is referred to as the Creator of the heaven and earth and all living things in 27 of the 66 books of the Bible:
Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, I Chronicles, Nehemiah, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Amos, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, Mark, John, Acts, Romans, I Corinthians, Ephesians, Colossians, I Timothy, Hebrews, I Peter, II Peter and Revelation
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

God created the heaven and the earth at the same time according to Scripture. God spent six days doing His creative work and on the seventh day God rested. (Genesis Chapter 1)
11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it. Exodus 20:11 KJV
HONOR GOD OUR CREATOR!
As we read God’s Word, remember we are only finite beings. God is infinite. Let God tell us what He wants us to know, we need to do our best to never take our ideas to God’s Word and try to make the Bible say what we want it to say.
